DIY: Coffee and Bergamot Scrub

Coffee is a serious part of life. It wakes and warms us up, it’s an excuse to get together with friends, or seek alone time to get things done. Most people feel sluggish without it and look forward to their daily cup as a morning ritual. Personally, I can’t get enough of coffee, the scent, or the energy it gives me. Lets just say that if it was socially acceptable for me to bathe in it, I would. And in a way, I sort of do.

Creating a coffee body scrub is one way to surround your mind, body and soul with the good stuff if you’re as caffeine-crazed as I am. Equally as wonderful smelling is bergamot, a classy little essential oil that likes to relieve you of stress and soften your skin. I know it sounds crazy, like their two personalities would cancel each other out, but in reality, they combine forces to moisturize and lift your spirits. One part energy, one part calming…uh huh honey.

Ingredients

½ cup of coffee grinds
½ cup of coconut oil
7 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
¼ cup of brown sugar

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and then place in an airtight container. This is my go-to when my hands are dry and regular lotion just isn’t cutting it. Rub in a circular motion and rinse off. Keep a jar of it near the sink or in your shower when your skin needs some relief and your cup of coffee wasn’t enough.
