Oils for 35,000 feet

There are 2 types of people in this world: those who like flying, and those who don’t. But seriously, whether you enjoy being up 35,000 feet in the air or not, we wanted to share a few ways you can elevate your travel experience with essential oils. Plus, these TSA-friendly products are useful on the ground too if you like the idea of maintaining a sense of ritual while you’re on the go.

Essentials Packing List

Lavender – The queen of multipurpose, Lavender can be used so many ways while travelling—starting with take off. We’ll dab 1 drop of Lavender under our nose once we’re airborne to ward away any germs. It’s also a calming ritual that helps us relax if we’re having any inflight jitters. If you’re on a red eye flight, try dabbing the Lavender on your sleep mask, so you can catch some much needed Zzzz’s.

Tea Tree – Airplanes are notorious for causing breakouts. Seriously—it’s like you go to use the washroom 20 minutes in and 3 new zits have popped up. That’s why we like to pack Tea Tree with us, so we have a spot treatment on us at all times. If you don’t have sensitive skin, you can apply it directly to the blemish, right there in your aisle seat. Otherwise, we recommend mixing it with a little bit of coconut oil first.

Eucalyptus – Once you’ve arrived at your hotel, hop in the shower to rinse off that airplane smell. While you’re in there, add 3 drops of Eucalyptus to your palms and rub them together to create a mini spa moment. It feels crazy luxurious and indulgent, and we can guarantee it costs less than a spa appointment wherever you’re staying.

Sweet Orange – Before you go out to tackle your day, try adding a few drops of Sweet Orange to your face moisturizer. If travelling has you exhausted, this can work as a natural wake up call. It’s fresh and rejuvenating. Plus, the vitamin C gives you a natural glow.

Rosemary – So you’ve had an epic day and now you’re back at the hotel getting ready for bed. After washing your face,try applying 1 drop to each brow to promote healthy, full brows. You can also add a few drops to the shampoo or conditioner in your hotel shower to help stimulate the scalp and strengthen hair follicles.

Geranium – So we used Sweet Orange in the AM, now we’ll use Geranium in the PM. Geranium is known for its balancing properties, which makes it essential for skin when travelling can throw everything out of whack. Just add a few drops to your evening facial moisturizer and you’re good to go.

Lavender (again) – We did say multipurpose. As the final addition to our bedtime ritual, we like to put a few drops of Lavender on a tissue and place it under our pillow. Some hotel linens smell like “hotel” (you know what we’re talking about, right?) and having the sweet, soothing scent of Lavender close to our noses helps make wherever we are feel a little more like home.
