How To Be a Morning-ish Person

Mornings can be ROUGH. Especially when you’ve just come back from holiday and your body is not ready to function like a working human being. Cue the memes:

So to liven your spirits, cause hey, you made it through 2017, we’ve rounded up a list of simple ways to make your mornings more enjoyable, because it’s the little rituals that can have a big impact over time 🙂

Make a bomb breakfast the night before – Instead of facing the daunting question of what to eat every morning, try prepping your breakfast the night before. These overnight oats from goop are easy, healthy, and portable—all things we love. Plus it might just snag you an extra 15 minutes of sleep knowing your morning meal is taken care of.

Exercise in the AM – Yes, we know everyone says this, but seriously, you can get up early and get it done. It’s such a mental thing to think you can’t get up early. Sure, it’s a struggle to get out of bed, but once you’re out, you’re up for the day and then, after a long day at work, you get to relax. Aaaah. We suggest going to a class (that you paid for) so the motivation is high $$$.

NYT Morning Briefing – While we’d love to nostalgically read the newspaper over our morning coffee, most of us don’t have the time (or the physical paper). Try signing up for the New York Times Morning Briefing—it’s free and gives you a complete overview of what’s going on in the world. You can read it while in bed to warm your brain up before taking on the day.

Shower with Eucalyptus – If your morning shower is the most routine part of your day, why not make it something to look forward to? By rubbing a few drops of Eucalyptus oil between your palms and inhaling, you create a mini-spa moment for yourself before 9 am. Win.

Put on music while you get ready – Before you hop in the shower, or while you’re getting dressed, put on some tunes. Upbeat music can help set your intention for the day, plus it’s fun…and why not start your day moving your body a little.
