First of all, congrats on making it this far. You’ve survived your holiday office parties and secret Santa gift exchanges. You’ve lived through multiple hangovers, weekday drinks, and copious amounts of chocolate. You’ve even successfully bought gifts for all your people. It’s a lot—to be honest just typing this is making me exhausted. So take a second, because things are about to ramp up again. This is that sweet spot—in the middle of the chaos where you can check in, see what you need and take care of yourself. Our suggestion? A detoxifying face oil to help calm and purify the skin in time for New Year’s Eve.
Detox Mode Face Oil
13 full droppers Apricot Kernel
3 droppers Rosehip
3 droppers Evening Primrose
4 drops Sea Buckthorn
5 drops Lavender
Mix all the oils in a 15 ml dropper bottle, then apply by adding 4 drops to your current moisturizer before bed. You can also apply the oil blend directly to your face after cleansing, toning, and serums if you use oils as your moisturizer.
Why we love it:
We want to purify the skin, but not in a harsh, aggressive way. Enter Apricot Kernel as the base oil—it’s a lighter, more gentle oil that won’t weigh you down. For our complex oils, we chose Rosehip because it will help calm any redness and give you that “I’m-ending-2018-on-a-high-note-glow.” Evening Primrose will help balance out the skin (remember the aforementioned chocolate? add wine, cheese, cocktails and bread into the mix). Sea Buckthorn is our mini detox for the skin—it’s packed with omegas, so it’s still nourishing, but will draw out any impurities. Lastly, for the essential oil we chose Lavender for its gentle, antibacterial properties.
It’s an easy way to squeeze in a mini detox—even if the rest of your body is still powering through, at least your skin will get a break. Plus applying it at night with a jade roller actually feels like heaven.
