DIY: Aloe Vera and Bergamot Face Wash

You don’t have to be the crafty type to rock certain DIYS and this is one of them. There are so many pluses to making your own beauty products, the number 1 for me being that you know the exact ingredients. There aren’t chemicals you give yourself a migraine trying to pronounce, or things being disguised as something else (hello “natural flavouring”= MSG) and then of course there’s the plus that YOU made it with your valuable time and added in that little pinch of love.

So you already know we’re crazy about bergamot. What you might not know is that I’m a little crazy for aloe vera too. I like to keep a plant (or 5) in my house because I’m constantly finding uses for it. Burns, cuts, acne, dry skin, cuticles…the gift that keeps on giving (and it looks rad too). As far as me and the cupboard under my sink are concerned, you can never have enough facial cleansers. These little elixirs of fresh-smelling ointments and washes make it fun to play scientist/dermatologist. Like I said, you don’t have to be a pro for this, you just need to be able to mix a few things together!

Ingredients

Combine the following ingredients in a bowl:

  • ¼ cup aloe vera gel
  • 2 tablespoon of water
  • 5 drops Bergamot
  • 2 tablespoons of baby mild Castile soap (this is our favourite)

This wash keeps for up to a few months because it doesn’t have any preservatives, so store it in a cool dry area.
